People’s living and working environment can have a positive or negative impact on their health. A degraded environment is detrimental to health: lung diseases, untreated wounds, difficulties in follow-up and access to treatment, interrupted continuum of care, occupational diseases that go unrecognised thus difficult to manage for those who suffer from them. Médecins du Monde works with people affected by poor living and/or working conditions to identify causes and solutions, and to promote access to healthcare.
The SE group, created to further the discussion on MdM’s strategy and work on the topic, is co-led by Astrid Fossier-Heckmann, volunteer in Nepal (astrid.fossier-heckmann@medecinsdumonde.net), Ana Rivadeneyra, volunteer Head of Mission in Bordeaux (ana.rivadeneyra@medecinsdumonde.net), Hugo Tiffou, volunteer in Paris (hugo.tiffou@medecinsdumonde.net) and Julie Grammont, MdM’s Environnement and Health Advisor (julie.grammont@medecinsdumonde.net).
