Dear Members of the Médecins du Monde Community,
On 13 September 2024, the Board has unanimously decided to open its monthly meetings to the public, as it is the case in other organisations or national/local political bodies.
The first public meeting of the Board will be held on Friday 4 October 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
You will now be able to follow internal political debates both remotely and in person, live or in replay, in French and English. Participation is not mandatory (it is based on voluntary interest, in agreement with line managers for employees*). Three meeting rooms at the Saint-Denis head office (84 avenue du Président Wilson, 93210 Saint-Denis) – Île de Lumière, Rue du Jura, and Marcadet – will be open to allow in-person attendance.
Public speaking and questions will only be available for the usual speakers (Board members, directors, official guests). Moreover, the Board will still have the option to meet in private when addressing topics requiring confidentiality.
This approach is part of a series of measures reflecting a desire for change in order to:
– Improve transparency within our institution;
– Strengthen the relationships between the Board and the field;
– Reinforce engagement;
– Promote membership and organisational dynamism;
– Ensure accountability for the Board’s discussions and decisions, which bind the organisation and its stakeholders.
The Board’s meetings, agenda and topics will be communicated in advance. In the meantime, we will provide you with all the practical details as soon as possible so that you can join us for this meeting and all the ones to come.
As technical challenges are numerous (thousands of audience members now invited), this new and unprecedented format will undergo successive trials and adjustments to ensure it is as functional as possible.
In solidarity,
For the Board of Médecins du Monde
Dr. Jean-François Corty, President
*If, due to your department’s needs, you are unable to attend the Board meetings held on Friday afternoons, please note that they will be recorded and available for later viewing. Additionally, attending a Board meeting outside working hours does not entitle you to compensatory time off.
