There was Charlie, there was Hypercasher, there was 13 November, there was Brussels, Orlando, Nice, and now Saint Etienne du Rouvray…
But there was also Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Kenya, Mali, Pakistan, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Afghanistan, Turkey and so on.
It seems that, there were no fewer than 11,772 terrorist attacks around the world in 2015. As for 2016, the count is still rising…
In the days following the Bastille Day attack in Nice, I received a tremendous amount of e-mails and text messages from people and MdM teams in France and all over the world offering words of encouragement to me and our whole team.
I was tremendously moved and touched by these gestures of support and I’m grateful to everyone who sent them. But I’ve been unable to stop thinking about all those people, all those teams who live in countries which are much more dangerous than France and for whom the anguish caused by terrorist attacks is part of daily life.
Therefore – and I hope those who wrote to me won’t mind – I’ve decided to dedicate all the messages I received to all the victims, their loved ones and all the teams around the world, who have been, and continue to be, affected in any way by the barbarity of terrorism.
